Since the cables are all composed of inorganic materials (magnesium oxide) and copper, they themselves do not cause fire and are unlikely to burn or assist combustion. Since the melting point of copper is 1083℃, and the melting point of magnesium oxide is 2800℃, this kind of cable can continue to maintain power supply in the case of fire near the melting point of copper, which is a kind of fire prevention cable. At present, it is the only safe electricity transmission cable that can maintain power supply capacity for three hours in a 1000℃ fire and can withstand the impact of fire water spraying and heavy weight falling.
Composition of Mineral insulated cable
Mineral insulated cable is a kind of cable which uses annealed copper as conductor, dense magnesium oxide as insulation and annealed copper pipe as sheath. If necessary, it can be squeezed with a layer of plastic outer sheath around the annealed copper sheath. For specially required occasions, a layer of low-smoke halogen free sheath can be applied.

Light duty (BTTQ, BTTVQ, WD-BTTYQ) 500V and heavy load (BTTZ, BTTVZ, WD-Bttyz)
- Test voltage of finished mineral insulated cable:
Light duty 2000V/1min, heavy duty 2500V/1min
- Insulation resistance for the mineral insulated cable should be more than 1000 m Ω, when the cable length is less than 100 m, insulation resistance should be greater than 10000 m Ω
- Long-term working temperature of mineral insulated cables:
Mineral insulated cable long - term operating temperature is 70℃, in unmanned occasions, the long-term working temperature of material insulated cable is 105℃. In special high temperature occasions, the long-term working temperature can be up to 250℃. At 950-1000℃, it can continue power supply for more than 3h with the short or very short period, working temperature can reach 1083℃.
- Bending radius:
The minimum allowable bending radius of mineral insulated cables conforms to a range of certain times of the cable diameter.
